£320,000 of Rasharkin road work starts

Work on the £170,000 resurfacing scheme on the B62 Craigs Road, Rasharkin is due to begin on Wednesday, February 13, from Duneoin Road North towards Rasharkin for approximately 1.2km.

While £150,000 worth of work resurfacing the B96 Moneyleck Road, Rasharkin is due to begin on 14 February between Main Street and B64 Bann Road.

Speaking of the Moneyleck road the Minister said: “This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important road in Rasharkin.

“A full closure of the Moneyleck Road will be in place on 14 and 15 February and 20 & 21 February to facilitate the surfacing works. During these closures a signed traffic diversion via Bann Road, Craigs Road and Main Street, Rasharkin will be in operation for through traffic. The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 21 February.”

Speaking of the Craigs Road road project the Minister said: “This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this important road between Rasharkin and Cullybackey. A full closure of the Craigs Road will be in place on 18 and 19 February to facilitate the final surfacing works. During this closure a signed traffic diversion via Lisnahunshin Road and Duneoin Road will be in operation for through traffic. The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 19 February.”

Speaking of both projects, the Minister said: “To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using lane closures.

“Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.”

All the above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
