Residents briefed on Kilroot salt mine plans
Plans for a proposed underground recovery facility for air pollution control (APC) residues at Kilroot salt mine have been laid out at a public meeting.
About a dozen residents attended the information session hosted by the Irish Salt Mining & Exploration Company in Ballycarry Community Centre on Monday.
The project involves the use of APC residues as a substitute material to grout parts of the mine.
A planning application has not yet been submitted, and the company intends to hold another public information event in Ballycarry in the near future.
