Rhanbuoy Park decision held up

A PROPOSAL to build a pair of two bedroom apartments at Rhanbuoy Park in Carrick has been deferred by planners.

The Planning Service had been minded to refuse the application to construct the apartments to the rear of 9 Rhanbuoy Park and 1-6 Sunlea Court, claiming that the development “does not respect the surrounding context and character of the area”. It was also said that the design and layout would have a “detrimental impact” on adjacent properties in terms of loss of light, overlooking and overshadowing. Thirteen letters of objection to the plans were also received.

However, at the October meeting of Carrick Borough Council, Councillor Sean Neeson called for an office meeting to be held on the issue, which was seconded by Alderman David Hilditch. The meeting is to take place on Thursday, October 21.
