Sewage leak in Gregg Street

“I was informed of a breach at Gregg Street,” explained Mr Palmer. “I rang NI Water at 11.36am and was assured it would be dealt with in eight hours.

“I was then informed that the problem had worsened.

“I contacted NI Water again and visited the site of the breach.

“They said a team had been out to sort the problem however they have promised to send out someone again.

“The area is next to a disabled parking bay and is an inconvenience to the residential houses. It certainly looks very unhealthy and I am concerned about the length of time it has taken to sort out this fault.”

A spokesperson for NI Water said they had put a temporary solution in place but still needed to find a permanent fix for the fault. “NI Water is aware of a recent sewage overspill in the Gregg Street area of Lisburn,” he said. “Exploratory work was carried out at the site over the weekend and a temporary repair was implemented, which has sufficiently relieved the situation in advance of a permanent solution being put in place. We will continue to monitor the site as proposals for a permanent solution are progressed over the coming weeks.
