Police are treating an incident in which a window of takeaway premises in Portglenone was broken with a snooker ball at the weekend as a hate crime.

Police were called to the Main Street area on Sunday, December 22, when the front window of a take away restaurant was smashed at around 9pm.

Police believe that the window was broken with a snooker ball and that a number of young men may have been involved.

Racial insults are also thought to have been directed towards restaurant staff by the same individuals as they walked from the area.

Investigating officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, particularly a customer who was in the take away at the time. Police can be contacted on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
