A YOUNG motorist detected travelling at speeds of between 90 and 100mph has lost his licence for four months.
Jonathan Johnston (22), of Lisnahilt Road, Broughshane, was also fined £50 in relation to the offence which was detected at Glenshane Road, Maghera, on January 16 last.
Johnston was fined a further £50 for having two defective tyres on the same date.
The court heard a police car was travelling behind the defendant’s vehicle at the time of the offences.
Imposing the penalties, Deputy District Judge King, told Johnston that he needed a period of disqualification to bring it home to him that speed is a major cause of accidents.
