Students help Dara's Crossfire event

YEAR 12,13 and 14 students at Cross and Passion College in Ballycastle took to their bikes recently in a bid to raise funds for the Charity Children in Crossfire.

Past pupil, Dara O hArtghaile, is heading off to Vietnam this month to complete a sponsored cycle with other members of the charity.

All the money raised will be used for the various projects, improving children’s health and education, run by CIC in Vietnam.

Dara was inspired to become involved with this charity after hearing its founder, Richard Moore, who was blinded by a plastic bullet in 1972 when he was just 10 years old, speak at the school’s annual prize giving ceremony in 2007.

The students and staff who participated, completed a 15 minute cycle on one of the six static bikes in the front foyer of the school. The cycle event created a ‘great buzz’ in the school and raised a total of 1411.50 for charity.
