Suspicious approach made to five-year-old boy in Co Derry town

Police are investigating a report of a suspicious approach to a young boy in the Ard Na Small area of Dungiven.

Constable Willie McKee said: “At approximately 4.00pm on Saturday, 4 July a 5 year old boy told his mother that a man had approached him and asked him his name and where he lived. The boy did not speak to him, but instead ran into his house to his mother.

“The man is described as wearing a brown coat and jeans, he had grey hair, decayed teeth and he was carrying a bunch of flowers.

“Anyone who saw this incident or who recognises the description is asked to contact Police at Limavady on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
