COOKSTOWN Motorcycle Touring Club members were delighted to welcome 13 members of Moto-Club de Plerin for a short three-night stay in Cookstown, between May 5th and May 8th as part of a week-long visit to Ireland by the club.
The two clubs have been twinned since 2001 and, for three of the French bikers, it was their sixth visit to our town. For three more it was a second visit and the remaining seven were first-time guests of the local club.
Members of the Cookstown club had organised runs to North Antrim and County Derry on Monday and to County Fermanagh on Tuesday. Both runs saw two dozen bikers enjoying beautiful scenery, quiet roads and excellent lunches, in warm sunshine, allowing the French visitors to appreciate ‘Norn Ireland’ at its very best.
Food and craic followed the runs each evening in the comfortable surroundings of Cookstown Hockey Club.
Cookstown Motorcycle Touring Club would like to thank Cookstown Twinning Committee for their sponsorship of the food on one of the evenings and equally Cookstown Hockey Club for the use of their excellent premises.
The club look forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones as the link continues with an anticipated visit to Plerin in 2014.
