M1 reopened after lorry crash near Moira

Three people have been injured after lorries collided on the M1 near Moira.

The motorway has now reopened, following a collision near Moira.

A crash involving two heavy goods vehicles close to the slip road has resulted in three men being taken to hospital police said.

The PSNI had released a statement earlier to say that both lanes, city-bound, had been closed.

They added that the crash was reported to emergency service shortly before 7am.

The Department for Regional Development (which runs the Province’s transport network) said there were “long delays” on the motorway.

None of the casualties’ injuries are thought to be life-threatening.

The motorway was closed to Belfast-bound traffic from junction nine at Moira to junction eight at Blaris.

Long delays are reported on the A3 Belfast Road from Lurgan, A3 Moira Road from Lisburn and A26 Glenavy Road towards Moira as a result of the collision.

The accident close to the off-slip joining the M1 Belfast-bound at Moira.

Drivers had being diverted off the motorway at Moira around trunk roads and back to join the motorway at Sprucefield.
