Trio to stand trial over £700k Leckagh drugs haul

THREE men have been sent for trial on charges arising out of a major haul of herbal cannabis - believed to have a street value of more than £700,000 - from a house in the Leckagh estate, Magherafelt.

Before the court were Frankie Huang (34), of Main Street, Dromore; You Ping Shi (36), Stodmarsh House, London, and Zheng Chang (35), HMP Maghaberry.

Huang and Ping Shi are accused of cultivating cannabis, possessing the drug and having it with intent to supply between September 8 - 12 last year.

Chang is charged with having criminal property, namely £34,970, in his possession, and possessing the identity documents relating to another person on September 11 last.

The trio were returned for arraignment at Londonderry Crown Court on August 28 when they appeared at preliminary inquiry at Magherafelt Magistrates Court.

Ping Shi and Chang were remanded in custody until the date of their trial, while Huang was granted bail.
