Vandals on rampage at Armoy playground

POLICE in Ballycastle are anxious for information concerning an incident at Turnarobert Park, Armoy, when vandals went on the rampage at a play park which was only officially opened less than two weeks previously.

The incident took place between October 1 and 4 when two gate closers, seven fence panels, ten wall climbing grips and a bench seat were broken.

A litter bin and a bench were pulled from their concrete bases.

Anyone who can help police catch those responsible is asked to contact 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111.

Moyle Council said the damage cost 275.

A Council report said: ‘The playground at Turnarobert is complete and has been open to the public since Friday September 24, 2010. Unfortunately since its opening there has been considerable vandalism and the Council is now footing the bill of fixing newly installed equipment.”
