Vehicle was driven erratically and hit a kerb

A 45-year-old man was banned from driving for 12 months last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for an excess alcohol offence.

Fernando Biague, Churchill Park, Portadown, was also fined £250 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on April 9 this year at 9.30pm police received a report of a possible drunk driver in the Portadown area.

They saw a vehicle, which was being driven erratically, hit a kerb and stopped it in the Garvaghy Road.

Police spoke to the defendant who was the driver and there was a smell of alcohol on his breath.

Biague said that he had consumed three beers. A breath test gave a reading of 58 - the limit is 35.

A solicitor representing the defendant said that he had been at a birthday party.

He added that Biague had expressed remorse and said it was his mistake.
