A MONEYMORE man is asking the public to support him as he shaves off his pride and joy - his fantastic moustache - in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
“I started growing my moustasche as a bit of a joke,” John Cowan told the MAIL. “I planned to shave it off but a mate bet me that I couldn’t keep it for six months for £60. It just went from there.
“I’ve been growing the moustache for sixteen months and I think it’s coming to the end of its lifespan despite having become quite popular with a lot of my friends and people I meet.
“I thought if I was going to remove it I had better get something good out of it and give something back toMarie Curie who did a lot for my dad during a dark stage of his life.”
John’s dad, Jimmy, was an extremely poplular local figure who died in April 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
“Marie Curie were amazing, helping out my mum and my dad to keep fighting on. My mum was his primary care giver and the only time that she got a rest was through the efforts of Marie Curie nurses. Without them she would’ve been worn out.”
