Video: Sinn Fein’s Cathal Mallaghan tops Cookstown poll

Sinn Fein’s Cathal Mallaghan topped the poll with 1,481 first preference votes in Cookstown ward.

Joining him on the new Mid-Ulster Council with be party colleague Councillor John McNamee who polled 1,274 votes.

Ulster Unionist Party member Councillor Trevor Wilson was also elected to represent Cookstown, polling 1,319.

Counting is continuing at Magherafelt to decide the other four seats in the ward.
