Watch: Snow blizzard hits Mid-Ulster

The forecasted blast of snow showers arrived in Cookstown on Wednesday afternoon after weather warnings from the Met Office that Northern Ireland was set to be hit with an icy blast of arctic conditions.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the Met Office update their warning from yellow to amber, the second highest warning for heavy snow showers and icy conditions expected to hit Counties Tyrone, Armagh, Antrim, Fermanagh and Derry/Londonderry.

An early yellow warning has also been issued for Sunday for more snow forecast.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when driving and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
