A weather warning for heavy rain and potential flooding is in force in Mid Ulster and across Northern Ireland.

The Met Office say the yellow warning will remain for both Saturday and Sunday.

Forecasters say Saturday will be a “cold, cloudy day with strong southeasterly winds”.

“Rain will spread northeast through the morning, turning persistent and occasionally heavy in the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

“Persistent rain will continue overnight with further heavy outbreaks at times, particularly over the Mourne mountains and Antrim hills.

“Towards dawn rain will turn light and patchy as winds ease. Minimum Temperature 5 °C.

“Sunday: A cloudy, but mainly dry morning with just a few light spots of rain. Showers will develop in the afternoon, these heavy and perhaps thundery at times. Maximum Temperature 14 °C.”
