We pay tribute to the NHS health heroes - Alone Together podcast

In ordinary times, the job of health workers was already incredibly stressful. But the added pressure of the coronavirus crisis is stretching their resources and resolve.

From doctors to nurses, porters to radiologists, NHS staff have shown immense dedication and courage in the face of the pandemic.

In the latest episode of Alone Together - A Coronavirus Podcast, we pay tribute to those health workers.

Will Hayward, political editor for Wales Online, speaks to Morven McIntyre, to offer the Welsh perspective on NHS pressures. He also touches on the positive community stories coming out of the country at a tricky time.

Children’s doctor Dr Katie Rogerson discusses NHS Million - the campaign to create a ‘superteam’ of a million people who will love and cherish the health service. She tells Alone Together’s Dan McLaughlin that the NHS is “not just for Covid-19 - it’s for life”, and hopes that the campaign will raise awareness about the challenges faced by health workers.

And it is all about the number five in the Run for Heroes fundraising appeal: you can run, walk or cycle 5K, donate £5, and nominate five others to do the same.

Matt Millard chats to Olivia Strong about her campaign to raise money for NHS Charities Together. With an initial goal of £5,000, Run for Heroes has moved its target to a staggering £5 million - it’s not far off from reaching it.
