BALLINASCREEN were crowned All Ireland Feile na nGael U14 champions in Co. Limerick at the weekend.

The Derry lads defeated their hosts for the weekend, Croagh Kilfinny, by 5-9 to 1-2, Templeglantine 7-10 to 2-1 and Bredagh (Belfast) 5-16 to 1-3 to top their group. In the semi-final they defeated Keady of Armagh by 4-9 to 2-7 and the host county’s Old Christians by 2-8 to 1-5 in the final.

This was the club’s eighth time representing their county at the national Felie na nGael competition.

Special mention and wish for speedy recovery for Emmett Duggan, Sean “Tappo” Thayaparan and Cathaoir Gribben who picked up injuries over the weekend.

Thanks to the club and organising committee for arranging both Feile weekends with special mention to Tracey Kelly.

The team management of Patsy Groogan, Padraig Groogan and Gregory Brunton deserve special mention for their hard work in leading the lads to this triumph.
