Busy week for Larne AC runners

Larne Athletic Club’s Eddie Finn travelled to Clontarf in Dublin to run the flattest marathon course in Ireland.

He finished in 52nd place out of 77 runners in a time of 4:16, equalling his previous personal best at the picturesque 26.2-mile course.

On Sunday three Larne AC members took part in the third race of the Lisburn Duathlon series. The race consisted of a two-mile run followed by a 10-mile cycle and a final two-mile run.

Jack Baxter was first home for the club in an impressive 1:01:35 and third-placed junior. Beverley Gaston completed the course in 1:05:21 to claim 4th female. Juliane Keane, competing in her first duathlon, finished in 1:10:13 (8th female).

At Sunday’s SSE Airtricity 10-mile road race, Gillian Logan produced a strong performance finishing as sixth female overall in a time of 1:17:25.

In midweek, 10 LAC ladies ran the Ballymena Belles 5-mile race. First home was Gillian Logan (37:05, 10th). Other club results: Kerri-Anne Kearney (39:55, 23rd); Bernie Regan (41:18, 31st); Lorraine Wharry (42:18, 43rd), Claire Dickinson (42:23, 47th); Kirsten Montgomery (43:04, 53rd); Emily Boal (44:39, 72nd); Melissa Whiteside (45:04, 78th); Laura Brennan (46:09, 90th); Kerry Inglis 56:30 (189th).
