Campbell claims top spot in Triathlon

Brian Campbell put in another stunning performance as he triumphed, yet again, in the Stena Line triathlon held in Newtownabbey on Sunday.

The Larne man, clocked an impressive time 1:01:11 to claim top spot at the annual race. He was four minutes ahead of his nearest challenger.

Organisers hailed the event as a success, with a crowd of over 300 out to support the 192 triathletes testing themselves on the tricky course.

Meredith Anderson finished first in the ladies’ event, with veterans Alison McConnell and Paul Carroll winning their respective categories.

The keenly-fought junior categories were won by David Hamilton and Jemma Speers.

It really was a fantastic day for all concerned and the organisers would like to thank the sponsors Stenaline for their continued support for the event, the PSNI for making it such a safe event and of course the athletes and supporters for making the atmosphere so special!
