CHAMPIONSHIP TWO: High fives for Portstewart

PORTSTEWART boss Gary Taylor was delighted with his side's comprehensive victory over Killymoon Rangers last Saturday.

The Cookstown side found themselves 2-0 down at the break, with goals from Steven Tosh and an own-goal from a Rangers winger.

Steven Tosh made it 2-0 when he headed home a cross from Tommy Parsons.

Portstewart took control of the second half with Rab Nicholl and James McLaughlin both going close.

McLaughlin's efforts paid off when he grabbed two goals in short succession. His first came from a free kick which he curled into the bottom corner and his second was a superbly taken free kick.

Killymoon capped off a bad day at the office when a defensive error lead to another own goal.

"We had a jittery start, " admitted Taylor.

"But once we got the two goals, we had a bit more confidence."

the Ports manager praised his new signing, James McLaughlin: "James only came in last week and already he is showing a lot of promise.

"He scored two great goals, his second was probably the best goal I ever seen at Seahaven.

"He has certainly given the players around him a lot of confidence and I just hope he keeps scoring."

Taylor also hailed Stevie Mason who made the step up from the Reserves on Saturday. "He's a tricky young player, and he created two of the goals on Saturday. He has certainly impressed me."

'Tough test' against Tobermore

"This will be a big test for us," admitted Gary.

"Johnny Law has a built up a good team with experienced players like David Patton, Adrian Whiteside, John Neill and Sean Henneghan.

"They are going really well at the minute, but we are creating chances, and if we keep doing this I will be happy."
