CHAMPIONSHIP TWO: Taylor pleased with the workout

Like managers up and down the country Taylor has been left kicking his heels in frustrating as games fell foul of the weather in recent weeks.

It was doubly frustrating for the Seahawks, whose own pitch was playable for most of the last few weeks, but they were unable to rearrange the games.

Taylor though is hoping that with a fully fit squad and a couple of new additions they will start racking up the wins.

"It was good to get a run out," he told Times Sport.

"It's been a bit frustrating for us since December with games on and off and it has shown in our performances.

"Although we were missing a few players today I thought we would take the game and gat a run out as I thought it would do the lads good.

"We were unable to get games rearranged even though our ground has been playable with the sea air.

"So as I say it's been very frustrating for us as we just haven't been able to build any momentum as we've a game one week and nothing the next.

"The same thing happened us last year, we were stop/start for a couple of months.

"It has helped us clear up a few injuries. Thankfully everyone is back now and all the players who were available today got a run out which was pleasing.

"The three players that were out with long term injuries too are all back training again which is a massive boost for us.

"I'm hoping to add to my squad this week, we're just waiting for the deals to be finalised by their clubs.

"Hopefully the new additions coupled with the injured players returning will help us push on.

"We'd been going not too bad before the break so as I say I'm hopeful that we can keep that going now."

The Sea Hawks face the long trek to Warrenpoint on Saturday and Taylor knows they will be boosted by their Irish Cup result at the weekend.

"We're away to Warrenpoint on Saturday which is a fair old trip for us," he joked.

"They've been going well too and they had a terrific result against Cliftonville on Saturday.

"So we know we'll have to put on a good show ourselves to get the points."
