Close call for Medallion

THERE has always been a close rivalry between the neighbours but in recent years the Lurgan side always came out on top but they had a not so convincing win over Banbridge Academy on Saturday. Defensive frailties were exposed on three occasions as Banbridge broke through and scored.

The home side had newcomer Kris Walker to thank, when he scored a superb try and saved Lurgan from facing defeat.

Earlier brilliant initiative from centre Ben Murtagh as he intercepted the ball also helped keep Lurgan in the game and Drew Davis was able to break through the Banbridge defence time and again before finally getting on the scoresheet.

Despite not performing at their best the team still remain unbeaten and look forward to the game against Strabane next week.
