Cookstown 11 Northern Ireland CS 0
It sounds like it was all one way traffic at Steelweld Park on Saturday and, in truth, it was when Cookstown took on strugglers NI Civil Service.
However, it took the Reds ages to eventually open the scoring on a pitch that was drying and thereby making ball control difficult as bumpy passes littered play.
Greg Allen opened the Reds’ account, deflecting home from a crash ball. Andy Barbour doubled the lead before Allen again netted to make it 3-0 at the break.
The pitch was watered during the break and suddenly the Reds play was fluent and at times brilliant as they carved the visitors apart
Allen notched his hat-trick, flicking home in a crowded circle.
Cookstown then got their passing game going and the visitors had no answer to the quick two touch hockey now on show,
Further goals were scored by Allen, Barbour, Gareth Cuddy (2), Jon Ames, Paul Thompson, Mark Crooks and Andrew McWhirter as Cookstown racked up their biggest win of the season.
