’Clooney men book place in last four

Without doubt Killyclooney have been a revelation in North West cricket this season and Mark Gordon’s side took their improvement to a new level on Sunday as they progressed to the last four in the National Cup competition.

As usual the tie was played at Ballymagorry given that their home ground isn’t available on Sundays and the visitors posted a competitive 194 for seven as they batted first.

Neil Cahill top-scored with 42 with Howe (36) and Iain Latham (33 not out) chipping in as well. Christopher Neely was the only bowler to pick up two wickets for Killyclooney and when they replied, skipper Gordon decided on a punt.

He promoted John McCreanor up the order, telling the regular Number 10 to have a crack to himself to see if he could give the side a running start.

Not only did his man get him that start however but McCreanor went on to club 10 fours and seven sixes in an unbeaten 101 as the North West side cruised to victory.

Alan Colhoun chipped in with 32 but the day was all about McCreanor who crashed, banged and walloped his team into the last four.
