Scanlon’s men cruise to victory at Sion in Faughan Valley Plate
Michael Gilmour top scored with 70 as the visitors batted first while Ryan Eagleson also added a half century.
Runs from Jamie Holmes (47) and Iain Parkhill allowed the County Antrim side to post a very competitive 236 for six from their allotted overs and ’Clooney were never really in the hunt after that. Skipper Mark Gordon made 37 and Richard McMorris 34 not out late on but four wickets for Holmes and a brace for Anthony Martin saw the North West side come up well short, all out for 109.

Sion managed just 50 all out in this as Davy Scanlon and Ryan Barr with three wickets apiece and Marc Fleming tidying up with two. The visitors wasted little time, less than six overs in fact in rattling off the win, Brian Crumley and former Sion player Andy Lucas seeing out a nine-wicket win and at Seapark, Holywood beat Burndennett by 29 runs.
There may not have been a host of matches to contend with for Championship sides this weekend but despite that there was no shortage of action in the games that were played.
