Dalriada lose to Cambridge House

On Saturday 10th November, Dalriada 1st XI lost 2-0 to Cambridge House in an important League match.

Dalriada started well, and worked well down the right hand side with good play from Holly Clark and Lynn McAuley. The girls were unfortunate not to score on many chances but the Cambridge House defence proved strong and hard to beat. With great perseverance from Sophia Rodgers and Manon Eymere the girls won their first penalty corner. Despite a straight strike from Rebecca Turton and rebounds from Becky Webb, the score with still 0-0 at half time.

With half time over, the girls were determined to go out and get some goals however Cambridge house proved to be strong on the break and won their first penalty corner of the match. Holly Clark ran a great run to stop the shot being took however another early ball crossed into the right post and slipped past the keeper put Cambridge House ahead with 10 minutes remaining.

Great defence from Hollie Fleming and Caitlin De Jode kept the Cambridge attack from having yet another shot on target. Communications were strong between the Dalriada team and despite excellent work up the left by Rachel Allen and Judith McConaghy, the girls where unlucky not to score. Having proven they were dangerous on the break, another penalty corner was given away and unfortunately the Cambridge House forwards slipped it past goalie Nicola McCollum to score again. With only a few minutes remaining Eva Carson and Claire Finerty tried their best to score but the final whistle went leaving the score 2-0. Players’ player: Rebecca Turton.
