With ‘Go Games’ currently running across the county, this week’s event will put the spotlight on schools and the important role that they play in the development and promotion of Gaelic games.

Derry’s Director of Football, Brian McIver, has been delighted with the level of participation within the schools and the work going on linking clubs and schools together.

“I recently attended the Cumann na mBunscol AGM and was taken aback by the level of organisation and the amount of activity going on,” explained the former Oak Leaf senior football manager.

“Kids spend the majority of their time during any normal week within schools where they come into contact with the county coaches and of course the many teachers giving their time to Gaelic games. It’s a vital link to maintain and develop in the county.”

As well as the games, kids will get a chance to ‘Meet their Heroes’ with members of the Derry minor and senior footballers and management in attendance. The event is open to all and with a dry day forecast is sure to be an enjoyable spectacle for all.
