Claire McCann from Clonoe is looking forward to what is expected to be her last fight before emigrating to USA

But already the Dungannon and KCAM kickboxing clubs have fielded fighters on a top semi-pro boxing show in the Devenish Hotel, South Belfast.

Dungannon’s Mark Kerr continued his venture into semi-pro boxing with a convincing win over a tough Lurgan based opponent, while Coalisland’s Claire McCann showed her usual resolve in gaining a clear win over a Newtownards boxer.

Next on the calendar is the Gathering X annual show in the Seagoe Hotel in Portadown next Saturday.

This mid-Ulster fight night has a heavy Dungannon flavour, local Stuart Kirk acting as head official for the event.

KCAM kickboxing has four confirmed fighters matched, with another possible two making it onto the hugely popular twenty fight show.

Making her return to the Seagoe, Killyman mum of three Emma Greenaway is looking for a first competitive boxing win against a similar lady fighting out of Causeway Combat based in Coleraine.

Emma started kickboxing training as simply a means of getting fit, but training alongside fighters meant she got the competition bug.

Old favourite Claire McCann is entering the squared circle for her 22nd outing. Claire faces the same opponent she did in Belfast as they believe a rematch is required. Claire, as always, is quick to oblige and it’s sure to be an all-action bout when the bell tolls.

This may well be Claire’s last outing before she emigrates to the USA and the club hope to send her off in style, as one of the most dedicated and loyal people ever to cross the door of any gym anywhere.

Coalisland resident Daniel Balan is making a move from kickboxing to orthodox boxing as a means of further testing this tough and skilled competitor.

Danny Boy is taking on a seasoned amateur boxer from Newtownards, who is also making the move to semi-pro boxing after this last bout.

This battle of the bantamweights is sure to be set at a blistering pace and, after Danny’s last fight ended by way of a spectacular knockout, anything can happen!
