AMATEUR LEAGUE: Grange Rangers see off Donaghadee

Grange Rangers extended their unbeaten start to their Amteur League Division 2C campaign with a 3-1 win at home to Donaghadee.

Strikes by Davy Thompson, Ryan Murphy and Matti King secured victory at Foundry Lane.

Despite having the major share of possession, Rangers had only one goal to show for their efforts at the interval, when influential midfielder Davy Thompson fired home from 20 yards.

Continuing to dominate after the turnaround Ryan Murphy extended their lead pouncing after the keeper had parried King’s free-kick.

In the 70th minute King made it 3-0 from close range after Tiago Leite had done the spadework, but the visitors had the final say with a consolation strike at the death.

“Two wins and a draw have us in second position, so that is an encouraging start to the season. We were in control throughout, with Davy Thompson’s all-action performance in midfield earning him the Man of the Match award,” said manager Stephen King.
