Annual 5 a-side tournament launched

THE annual Cookstown Leisure Centre Mens five a-side football tournament is just around the corner and organisers are expecting an increase in entries, making it the biggest tournament to date.

Last year fifteen teams battled it out for the shield and organiser Peter Glasgow is expecting another successful tournament this year.

The tournament will be running from 21st to the 25th November and will start each evening at 7pm and end at 10pm.

It is hoped to run the tournament on a round robin basis depending on the number of entrants. Group stages will be played first then the knock out competition will commence once the group stages are completed.

The Gemini Group, proprietor Gerry Neeson, are once again kindly sponsoring the event. Tournament referee is former Irish League referee Dessie Blair.

There will be a perpetual shield for the winning team and trophies for the winning team and runners up. The Gemini Group will be sponsoring an award for the player of the tournament.

Entry fee for teams is £20 and all sides are guaranteed at least 3-4 matches. Closing date for entries is the 16th November at 10pm.

Entry forms available from reception at the centre. Rules and regulations for the tournament will be available to all teams prior to kick off.

Any queries with regards to entries, teams should contact Peter Glasgow 02886763853.
