The Blues have signed four players since the season ended but Hamilton says there is unlikely to be anyone else following David Rainey, Mark Patton, Adam Foley and William Murphy to Mourneview Park.

He said, “There’s no budget left at the club and that’s it for transfers now. We’ll not be signing any more players. We’re even struggling to bring in the midfielder we wanted because we’ll not be getting anything added to our budget.”

Hamilton did, however, leave the door open for former Glenavon midfielder Shane McCabe to make a return to the club, saying his availability may change that matter: “If a quality player like Shane became available, we would maybe have to review the situation.”

Meanwhile, the boss was quick to dispel rumours of Newington midfielder Joe McDonnell joining the club.

It had been claimed that the former Newry City and Ballymena United man had agreed a deal to join Hamilton’s men but the boss says the rumours are wide of the mark.

“I don’t know where that’s come from,” he said. “I can put on the record that we haven’t spoke to Joe McDonnell and we won’t be speaking to him.”
