Campbell double gains point for Moyola Park at home to Armagh

Moyola entertained Armagh at the Mill Meadow on Wednesday seeking to do the double over the visitors. The home team started without the injured Pattison and the visitors started with full back O’Neill in goal for the first time.

The Castledawson men started the game on the front foot with new signing Campbell having three efforts on goal within the first seven minutes. A minute later McQuillan had a long range effort held by O’Neill in the visitor’s goal.

Armagh had their first chance of the game; however Rowney fired his header over the bar. Nesbitt then had a chance for the visitors in the 11th minute only to see Maguire block his shot. Moyola had chances in the 16th and 19th minutes however efforts from Clail and R McFadden failed to hit the target.

The visitor’s opened the scoring in the 31st minute when a cross from the left found the unmarked Rowney and he fired his shot past Maguire. Armagh doubled their lead in the 42nd minute when McGlone jinked his way through the Moyola defence and fired in a shot which beat Maguire at his front post.

The Orchard County team had the first chance in the second half in the 50th minute however Rowney fired his shot well over.

A minute later Moyola got back into the game when a free kick from Hassan on the left found Campbell and he fired an unstoppable header past the stranded O’Neill. The home side made a change in the 60th minute with Stewart replacing Johnston.

In the 63rd minute S McGerrigan had an effort saved by Maguire in the home goal. A ball over the top from McFall found Campbell however his lobbed effort over O’Neill went wide.

Moyola got an equaliser in the 75th minute when a pass from Lucas found Kells in his own half and his ball forward found Campbell and he turned and fired a shot from the edge of the box to make it three goals in two games. A minute later Armagh were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box, however S McGerrigan fired his shot over.

Moyola were reduced to ten men in the 80th minute when McFall received his second booking for a foul on the edge of his own box. The home side still pressed for a winner and a run and cross from Hassan in the 87th minute evaded everyone in the Armagh goal mouth.

This was a hard earned point for the home team after being 2-0 down at half time and being reduced to ten men.

Moyola entertained Portstewart at the Mill Meadow on Saturday seeking to build on the second half performance against Armagh.

Both teams had very few chances in the opening minutes of the game and it wasn’t to the 16th minute when Moyola got their first effort on goal when the impressive Campbell received the ball on the right and his shot was tipped onto the post by Madison in the visitor’s goal.

Campbell had another chance in the 20th minute following a free kick from Hassan however his header went wide of the Portstewart goal.

Portstewart had their first effort on goal in the 25th minute when a ball in from White was cleared from danger by the diving Lennox. Campbell was again in the heart of the action in the 31st minute when his shot was saved by Madison. Portstewart thought that they had opened the scoring in the 41st minute only for the assistant referee to flag for offside.

Moyola made a change at the start of the second half with J McFadden replacing Harkness. Portstewart had a chance in the 60th minute, however Maguire made a great save from a free kick.

Moyola made their second change in the 65th minute with Wilson replacing Clail. R McFadden had a long range effort in the 70th minute; however this went wide of the Portstewart goal.

Campbell had a chance for the home team in the 82nd minute when he was through on Madsion only to see the Portstewart keeper make a great save.

This was a game of very chances and both teams were happy to go away with a point.
