Desertmartin Swifts 3
Ballyclare Old Boys 0
DESERTMARTIN Swifts followed the previous week victory with an impressive 3-0 win over a well organised Ballyclare Old Boys side at Dromore Park last saturday.
With the first team not having a game Trevor Junkin took the opportunity to rest some of his players who were carrying little injuries by playing some of the first team squad.
The Swifts made better of the first half and took the lead on the 30th minute when Lee Smyth was first to a loose ball in a goal mouth scramble to score from close range.
The Swift held on to their slender goal advantage at the interval.
Ballyclare came more into the game in the second half and the Swifts had Paul Leacock to thank for making two excellent saves to keep the Swifts lead intact.
The Swifts increased their lead on the 60th minute when Mark Shiels set up Dean Bartlett and the Swifts top marksman made no mistake from 12 yards out. With time running out for the visitors, Davy Junkin sealed an emphatic victory for the Desert by heading home from a Shiels free kick.
This Saturday both teams are away.
The firsts are at Ballynure Old Boys and the Swifts are at Ballyclare Comrades Reserves.
