First win of season for Waveney Youth

WAVENEY Youth FC claimed their first win of the new season with a 4-1 success against Newington on Saturday.

The Belfast side started the stronger and went ahead early on. Jordan Barrow in the Waveney goal saved a free kick but a Newington player converted the rebound.

Waveney got back on level terms when an excellent cross from Joel Godfrey was converted by Robbie Perkins.

This kicked Waveney into life and they went ahead when Camryn Millar converted another excellent Joel Godfrey cross.

Waveney went close to extending their lead before half time when Camryn Millar hit the bar and the Newington goal keeper made a fine save from a Camryn Millar shot.

After the break Waveney continued to create chances and extended their lead when good passing released Peter McMullan whose cross found the net at the back post.

Waveney made it 4-1 just before the final whistle when Robbie Perkins converted a Matthew Sheerin cross.
