Three league wins on the spin and, for the optimistic manager who’s finally seeing all the hard work in training paying off, it seems that the only way is up!

Indeed, so pleased was he with the display in Saturday’s 4-2 win at Armagh, Davy McAlinden didn’t mind conceding two late goals.

“Normally I would be giving out about letting in one goal never mind two, but that didn’t come close to taking the shine off what was easily the best performance from the team since I came to the club,” he said.

“I was really pleased with the way we performed. The boys worked very hard when they didn’t have the ball and used it very well when they regained possession.

“Having kept a couple of clean sheets in winning the previous two league matches, it would have been nice to keep that going, but, really, it didn’t take the gloss off things to let them in late in the day. I’d settle for that every week.

“It was also very satisfying to see the way the guys adapted to playing on the artificial pitch. It really suited our style.

“This weekend we face a very good Dergview side sitting just above us in the table and Richard Clarke has them playing very well, so they will be coming to Inver Park with plenty of confidence and chasing a result.

“But we have every reason to think we can secure another three points and, if we play as we did last weekend, I do believe we can keeping the momentum going.

“Apart from Thomas Robinson, whose ankle injury will keep him sidelined for a while to come, everyone is available selection with perhaps just a slight doubt about Stuart King who was taken off last Saturday as a precautionary measure.” Kevin Hughes
