Premier League players to tee up at Foyle Golf Centre

Congratulations to Faughan Valley team captain Frank McClintock and the club’s Pierce Purcell Team on qualifying in first place on Sunday for the next round of the Pierce Purcell Shield.

There was a great number of clubs from the North-West represented on the day and all were very complimentary about the excellent condition of the course.

The club wishes to thank the green-keeping staff for all their hard work over the past four weeks in particular.

The team will now meet City of Derry Golf Club at Foyle Golf Course on or before 2nd June 2014. Everyone at the club is very proud of the lads and wishes the team continuing success at Foyle.

Meanwhile former Maiden City Soccer Academy player Eunan O’Kane was the special guest at the launch of the annual Maiden City Academy Celebrity Golf Day sponsored by The Mellon Group at Da Vinci’s Hotel, on Monday. The event itself takes place this Friday, at The Foyle Golf Centre.

The Bournemouth man spoke about the importance of youth development and his positives experiences of his time at MCSA.

“Maiden City teach you the game but they they teach you how to handle yourself in the game and what to expect,” he stated.

Celebrities who have confirmed attendance include O’Kane himself along with current Newcastle Utd and Northern Ireland winger Shane Ferguson, Everton midfielder Darron Gibson, Sunderland’s Danny Graham, ex-Man Utd goalkeeper Tony Coton, ex-Everton and Blackburn Rovers striker Mike Newell.
