Last Saturday’s planned Fancy Dress Parade had to be post-poned following a terrible few days of rain and wind. The organizers met with parents on Friday evening, and it was agreed to re-arrange there and then rather than wait until Saturday morning as the forecast was very bad and it was accepted that Parents would like plenty of notice one way or another. Ironically, as it turned out Saturday was not at all a bad day but as had been agreed, a lot of parents had already ruled out their kids taking part on the strength of the previous few days weather.

The good news is that the Parade will go ahead, in couple of week’s time. Plenty of notice will be given, via flyers, posters and in the papers, so keep a look-out, Mums and Dads.

The organizers would like to thank all those Parents and Kids who were raring to go and hope to see you all in a couple of week’s time.

Keep an eye to the Moyola column in the papers and the Moyola web-site.

Crowds will flock to the banks of the Moyola River, Castledawson on Saturday 30th June to see the throng of ducks being dispatched downstream, without so much as a waddle or a quack. The Moyola Park FC Duck Race is now in its 3rd year -and it’s the one day in the year when the view from the bridge in the town turns decidedly yellow!

The race will start @ 11.45am (following Football Development Centre) and the finish line will be the Moyola Bridge, Moyola Road, Castledawson.

Light Refreshments to follow back at Mill Meadow and prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd ducks across the finish line and every duck costs £2.

Ladies Result

Wednesday 20th June – NIWFA - Euro Electrix Division 2

Moyola Park Ladies 3 Ballymoney Ladies 6

Moyola Park Ladies had Ballymoney Ladies in Euro Electrix Division Two league match at Mill Meadow, Castledawson.

It was Ballymoney who caught Moyola sleeping and within fifteen minutes Ballymoney went two goals up. Moyola Park had a couple of chances through Charlene Kenning and Claire McCracken.

Minutes later Ballymoney went into a three goal lead. It was always going to be something spectacular to beat this Ballymoney defence who were strong and this came with a Claire McCracken shot from what was taken an acute angle leaving the keeper no chance to save this superb goal. Charlene Kennings corners were causing havoc and one of which Justine Colvin got a head on but just narrowly missed the goal.

Ballymoney came on the attack again scoring just before half time making the score 1-4 at half time.

Moyola Park came out the second half and within ten minutes Claire McCracken with another outstanding goal made it 2-4. A free kick by Charlene Kenning was just tipped over the bar by the Ballymoney keeper and a shot from Zara Morrison went narrowly by.

Ballymoney scored again on the break and minutes later Claire McCracken scored her hat trick for Moyola with a shot from 18 yards out and went over the keepers head.

Ballymoney went on to score their sixth goal but although Moyola pushed on they could not get another break with Ballymoney winning the game 6-3.

Moyola Park’s next match is away to Bangor on Tuesday night 26th June.
