Northend United sides record first National League wins

AS Northend start to find their feet in the Elite National League, both teams turned in winning performances at the weekend over some strong opposition.

Mark Herbison’s U14s beat Warrenpoint Town 2-0 at Mallusk, while Glenn Speirs’ U16s beat Limavady United 4-2 at the Ballymena Showgrounds 3G pitch.

It was also a good day in the Belfast and East Antrim league with Johnny Sayers U13s beating Carnmoney Colts 3-2 to maintain their position at the top of the table. The U12s also won their match against Ballyclare Colts 3-0, again consolidating their position at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, the U9s, U10s and U11s started life in the North West and Coleraine and District Youth League at the weekend.

Northend’s newest team, the U9 Babies led the match 1-0 at half time before allowing Coleraine Academy in to score some late goals in the second half. The U11s were beaten by a good Ballymoney Academy side and the Wee Blues, the U10s, ran out 5-3 winners over Ballymoney Academy.
