This Saturday there are games in the first round of the Matt Morrison Junior Cup with extra-time and penalties used if required.

Magherafelt Sky Blues v Foyle Wanderers

The home side would dearly love to end the Wanderers winning run, they are reportedly a big physical side with a couple of GAA players in their ranks; the heavy conditions will also suit them.

Andy McClintock has worked wonders with his side; they play some attractive attacking football and don’t appear to have a weakness in their team. Conor Kelpie has been a big player for them - the midfield maestro bosses the middle of the park.

Prediction: Foyle Wanderers.

Tullyally Colts v Limavady United Drummond

The Colts have a good record in cup competitions but they still have to get their hands on silverware, they are another side who like to knock it about and they have dangerous players up front.

The Roesiders are blowing a bit hot and cold, they have the players in their side who should be getting better results but this will surely come.

Prediction: Tullyally Colts.

Lisahally v Maghera Strollers

The Lisahally men are the current holders and they will be going all out to retain the trophy, they have found things tough since they were promoted but with home advantage they will be favourites.

The Strollers are a bit of an unknown quantity, however when they played in the North West league before they were a very good side. This one might need extra time.

Prediction: Lisahally.

Irish Street v Dromore

The home side are at the bottom of the first division with just one win from eight games, they have lost a couple of those games by the odd goal so they are better than their league position.

The visitors are unbeaten in the second division and already look odds on to be promoted, they are scoring lots of goals and they will expect that to continue here.

Prediction: Dromore.

Greysteel v Ardmore

The home side are having a disastrous season with only BBOB below them, they are conceding too many goals and must tighten things up at the back, they haven’t been helped by not having a settled side.

Ardmore as usual are one of the favourites to go all the way in this competition, their side is full of quality players and they welcome back Dee McGee for this one.

Prediction: Ardmore.

Desertmartin v BBOB

Home advantage may have a big say in this game. Desertmartin are a decent side who will relish the expected heavy conditions, they will also have decent support.

The Old Boys’ only victories this season has been in cup competitions, their league form has been abysmal, they badly need a win from this one and might just get it.

Prediction: BBOB.
