Olympic lose out to strengthened Glebe

Glebe Rangers Reserves 3

Moyola Olympic 1

LAST Saturday Moyola Olympic travelled to Ballymoney to face Glebe Rangers Reserves in a Canada Cup third round tie.

Of late, Olympic have been enjoying some good form and encouraged by good results but this run was brought to an abrupt end by a much superior Glebe side, boosted by the inclusion of three first team regulars.

From the off, Moyola were second to every ball and lethargic in most aspects of the game so it came as no surprise when Glebe took the lead after 10 minutes.

Throughout the first 35 minutes, the home side were dominant and threatened with every attack. During this spell they added a further 2 goals as they comfortably overran the young Moyola side.

As half-time approached, Moyola gave themselves a lifeline when West headed home a long throw-in from Kells.

The second half was similar to the first in that Glebe had the majority of the decent possession but the Moyola lads showed a great deal more commitment and battled hard to successfully contain their opponents.

Although on this occasion Moyola were comprehensively outplayed, the experience should stand the squad in good stead for the rest of the season.
