Ton up for Shannon

GLENAVON captain Brendan Shannon is in line to make his 100th start for the Lurgan Blues against Linfield on Saturday afternoon.

The full-back, who joined the club from Donegal Celtic, didn’t take long to nail down a regular spot in the first team and this Saturday will surpass Mark Haughey as the current player with the most starts for the club.

Haughey is also on 99 starts for Glenavon but with Eddie McCallion and Sean McCashin playing well at centre-back, he is unlikely to start against Linfield, allowing Shannon to narrowly pip him to the post.

It will be a landmark day for Shannon and, at just 23, it could well be the first of many centuries for the young Glenavon skipper.

Haughey, however, is still the man with most overall appearances for the Blues, with his 108 games including substitute appearances.
