U10s give excellent performances

Distillery’s two U10s teams were back in action on Saturday and both sets of players didn’t disappoint, putting in excellent performances.

Game one saw the Wee Whites take on Lisburn Utd at Rathmore. The boys are now playing on a much bigger pitch but they produced a superb display which had the rock solid defensive pairing of Ben Gilliland and Michael Rocks at its core.

New boy James Clyde put in a real shift for his team in the centre of midfield, ably assisted by the two wide men Jonathan McCullough and Kenzie Bradley. Jonathan opened the scoring going on a great solo run before burying the ball into the corner of the net.

Next on the scoresheet was Michael who was on hand to slot the ball home from the edge of the box after Utd were unable to clear their lines.

There was then a great moment for debutant Jack Bonar, receiving the ball with his back to goal but swivelling and despatched his shot into the bottom corner like a seasoned striker.

The other U10 team travelled to Ballysillan Leisure Centre for a game with Crusaders with the boys on a scintillating display which drew praise from everyone present.

The first period saw the Wee Whites dominate with Ross White’s link up play outstanding, Ross opened the scoring before Conall Cunnungham buried a shot into the top corner.

Crusaders came back into the contest with their left winger creating a few problems which resulted in a deserved goal. Normal service was resumed in period three when Jake sent Spencer Maxwell racing through and Spencer didn’t disappoint slamming his shot into the top corner.

Ben Coulter cleverly found Jake with a throw in near the half way line, there didn’t appear to be much on but Jake showed great vision to spot Bradley’s forward run and picked him out with an absolutely exquisite pass. Bradley finished it off racing clear and smashing the ball home high into the roof of the net.
