Upperlands on the up

Upperlands 3

Templepatrick 0

Both teams went into this game in a very determined mind set in order to progress into the next round of the junior cup. The first half was a very cagey affair with both teams not creating many chances.

An unhappy Johnny Proctor made a few tactical changes and brought Workman on at half time for Lamont. This completely changed the game on its head with Upperlands now finding space with ease and attacking at will.

The ever dangerous Sammy Murray beat his man to produce the perfect cross for Patterson to head home at the back post. Shiels who had an outstanding game doubled the home side lead ten minutes later, Gordon lunched a free kick into the box and Shiels reacted the quickest to convert a diving head in from twelve yards.

Bobby Taylor eventually broke the offside trap to finish the scoring as he rounded the keeper and finished from a tight angle. Upperlands manager Johnny Proctor earned his money today as he totally turned his teams performance around with his half time changes.

He said after the game: “You wouldn’t have thought it was the Upperlands side playing. Man of the match had a few contenders with Ramsey and Shiels having excellent games but it went to Sammy Murray who had an excellent performance of the left wing.”
