Former Armoy boys in match re-union

IT doesn't happen very often, but on Saturday a number of former members of Armoy Rugby Club returned to Limepark to enjoy the local derby against Ballymoney Fifths.

The former players would, no doubt, have been impressed by their successors particularly when they raced into a big lead in the early stages and dominated proceedings thereafter.

The get-together was organised by Maurice Christie who, for once, took a day off from 'running the line' to host his former team mates.

Larry Walsh, Jarlath McTaggart, James Stewart, Raymond Christie, Paul Scullion, Rab Adair, Johnny Dean, Mark Whitfield, Adrian 'Nutty' Glenn, Trevor Taggart were amongst those swelling the crowd.

The craic was good and the afternoon sunshine contributed to a relaxed atmosphere added to by the odd tipple or two.

Maurice Christie said: "I contacted a number of the players and invited them along. I was delighted to see so many respond and it was a great afternoon seeing them again."
