Fr Rocks ended the senior season with disappointment as a 1-13 to 2-10 draw at Trillick saw them relegated into Intermediate Football next year. It was a spirited display from the Rocks who fielded a youthful team with the impressive Jamie McGarrity and Tom Mullan starting their first league games.
The sides were level after twenty minutes with Fr Rocks points from Martin Murray, Brian Mulligan and Owen Mulligan. However a John Gilmore goal put Cookstown into the driving seat. Matthew Donnelly kept Trillick in the game with some superb point taking and his scores left the sides level at half time, 1-6 to 0-9. Fr Rocks started the second half in superb form and went on to dominate for long periods.
Owen Mulligan proved to be the ace marksman with three superb points, which were also followed by a brilliant Brian Mulligan goal. This left the Rocks in a great position and when Martin Murray converted a free with five minutes to go it seemed that the game was over. However a late Trillick revival saw them kick three late points, followed by a dramatic last kick goal to deny Fr Rocks the much needed two points. The final scoreline finished 1-13 to 2-10.
