GAA: St.Patrick’s College bow out of Arthur’s Cup against Warrenpoint

St.Patrick’s Dungannon’s quest for U16 Arthurs Cup title ended at the quarter final at Lurgan on Wednesday afternoon when they were well beaten by defending champions St.Mark’s Warrenpoint.

The Down lads began brightly and raced into a four point lead with CJ Barr and Tiarnan Rush among their points but they failed to register in the second quarter as a spirited Dungannon side hit back.

Midfielder Naoise Martin weighed in with three points with Odhran Donnelly also on target as a low scoring first half came to an end with the sides locked on 0-4 apiece.

In the second half though there was only one side in it as the champions assumed control. Rushe hit a brace of goals with Liam Kerr also finding the net to end thecontest.

The Tyrone champions did have the consolation of scoring thebest goal when Donnelly smashed the roof of the net in injury time but St.Mark’s had the final say via Conor Owens scored a fourth goal.
