Lissan notes

LISSAN’S campaign in the Celebrity Bainisteoir series continues with Lissan travelling to Galway to play Galway side Oughterard on 16th October in the semi-final. Our new Bainisteoir Majella O’Donnell’s preparations are already underway.

We would encourage as many as possible to go and support the team in Galway. The Conemara Gateway Hotel are offering special rates for match supporters with packages for one or two nights with an option of evening meal. For those that do not wish to stay overnight in Galway, there will be coaches leaving the club grounds at 7:30am to make the trip to the match.

For those wishing to travel on the bus please contact Mickey Conway on 02886767601 or Briege McCann on 07833921306. We would like to thank Dana for her imput with the team to date and we wish her all the best in her Presidential election campaign.

Lissan Seniors played Moneymore in the league on Sunday 2nd October 2011. Unfortunately Moneymore performed better on the day and won by three points. Final score Moneymore 0:11 Lissan 1:5.

The U16 boys’ league game against Castledawson was cancelled on Sunday due to pitch conditions.

On Saturday 8th October the ‘The Thorny Rose of Lissan’ will take place in the marquee at the club grounds at 8pm. It will be a great night’s craic and music will follow. All welcome.

In the Lotto last week there was no one with four numbers. With three numbers Joan Anne Kelly won £50.00. Conor Kelly won £50.00 in this week’s lotto. The jackpot is now at £2,500.00. Lotto tickets are available from committee members and can also be purchased at the Lissan Go filling Station.

Winners of the monthly draw were: Eni O’Neill-£200, Nuala McGarvey £100, Mary Ann McCann £50, Collette Conway £50, Eamonn McKee £50.

We would invite club members to consider availing of the great facilities at Lissan Gym. The membership fee remains unchanged from last year. From the beginning of October the Gym will operate with a new fob system. This will make the facilities safer and more user friendly. A CCTV system is now in place also.

Anyone wishing to order new club merchandise with the new sponsor in time for Christmas should contact Carl McAlistair on 07886613167 or Jacqui Muldoon on 02886748916.
