GOLF: High finish for McDowell

Portrush golfer Graeme McDowell inconsistency continued as he fired a two over par 72 last night, but finished high up the scoring.at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club.

The event was won by by Hunter Mahan, who came in ahead of Ryan Palmer.

Rory McIlroy finshed one under par in his final round last night to pick up a share of sixth place.

Padraig Harrington enjoyed a late rally to shoot the best round of his four days with a 66, to also finish five under par for the tournament with McIlroy.

The attentions now turn to the USPGA Championship next week - the final major of the season. It starts on Thursday.
